My White Pottery Collection
This humble white pottery collection is made up of many different kinds of pieces.
The uniformity is accomplished with color, and not with a specific brand name, designer or function.
Most of my white pieces are antiques, which I've found in old homesteads on our ranch. Plates have been the most plentiful discovery. These old pottery finds have been incredibly interesting as we learn about their history and envision who may have used them long ago.
Collectible animal figurines were gifts from my piano teacher when I was a child. They were given to the first few students to memorize his/her recital piece. She purchased them in Mexico, I believe, and their color ties in nicely with the white pottery. Our children have played with them over the years; legs, trunks and horns have been broken off of each of them. Some don't even stand up anymore and have been retired to a box. That's OK with me though. I would rather have my kids remember playing with those unique animal figurines than if I had never let them out of the box in the first place (uh...the animals...not the kids)!
Notice the Angel Who Oversees All...love that!
The Large Sea Shell Belonged to My Husband as a Child. It fits in with the uniform color palette, but also adds texture...and of course, personal significance.
Added extras to my white pottery collection have been the brand new pitcher, seen in the forefront. Antique white stoneware pitchers are getting very hard to find and even more pricey. My solution was to purchase this replica. Hey, who cares if it's not a genuine antique? I don't think anyone in my neck of the woods is going to want to know where it came from! Plus, putting it up high on a shelf avoids any overly critical eyes.

Collectible dishes and various white pieces have been given to me by Wade's late mom, who we miss dearly. Those gifts are, of course, my favorite additions to this collection and mean the most to me.
