Unique Gift Wrap for a Wedding Present
This unique gift wrap idea came to me a few years ago. I don't usually keep a lot of wrapping paper on hand and since we live way out in the country, it's not something I can run out and get on a moment's notice. Creative Gift Wrapping

Cheap gift wrap doesn't need to be tacky. Some of the prettiest, most memorable gifts are wrapped in creative and practical ways. This unique gift wrap becomes 'cheap' because the packaging is part of the gift itself. Nothing more sensible than that, I think.
Try these perfect dish towels from Buy.com ~ you don't even have to leave home ~
shopping is secure plus you will have several to keep on hand for your wrapping projects. |
I use flour sack dish towels. Double 2 of them together so you won't be able to see the gift through them. If the item is too large to wrap completely, just double 2 more and use those to finish covering.
The gift shown here happens to be 2 large cookie sheets, so I placed them on 2 dish towels~folded over the towel edges (as you would when wrapping with paper) and then put the other 2 dish towels over the top~flipped the whole thing over and continued to fold the towel edges around the cookies sheets.
|
Next, I used brown garden twine, winding it around to keep all of the towel edges from flopping loosely.
Again, from Buy.com, the ideal garden twine for wrapping packages. This will last you a very long time! Paper-hole punch the card you have for the bride and groom and fish one of the string ends through it~tie that into a secure bow and you're done...unless... |
...then go out to your back yard~or your neighbor's, with their permission, of course~and pick some natural elements to place on the gift. Here I used some Crested Wheat Grass (with seed heads) and a single purple Columbine bloom.
We had saved some of those tiny plastic containers the florist uses on single stem roses to keep them fresh~I'm not sure what they are called. I knew they would come in handy some day though! I put the 'mini arrangement' in the tiny, portable water vessel and tied it with one of the string ends on the bow, affixing it to the package.
