A Pitcher Full of Sunshine

What could be less complicated than these orange Daisies placed in a clear glass pitcher?

Of course, any flower can be substituted as long as it is a single color and not a mix.

If you don't have a clear glass pitcher, try using a clear canning jar. Or, check out the thrift store for an inexpensive replica of the one shown here. Ebay is a great resource as well.

Classic Roses and Contemporary Stripes

Try some old fashioned roses in a coordinating striped vase.

Here, the accent color is lighter pink and only a few roses are included of that hue.

Choose a vase that has that same accent color in the stripe. This will give a more balanced effect between light and dark tones.

If roses are out of your budget, use two shades of Cosmos
out of your own garden.

Be creative and substitute any flower you can find in two colors~

A Beautiful Objective

One spring several years ago, there were so many beautiful wild flowers in bloom in our pastures because of unusually abundant rains.

My husband, Wade, is a woman's dream since he enjoys picking these native flowers of Montana and bringing them home for me to put in water.

The flowers came home very early that spring and brightened our home for several weeks when I had a thought....which trigged the usual, "Oh no!" from Wade. This particular thought didn't have as much manual labor involved as they normally do, so I went ahead and presented it to my better half.

"Why don't we try and have a bouquet of flowers on the table every single day until the first frost?", I asked. Wade agreed that would be a fun challenge for us. As long as the wildflowers bloomed, he would bring them home and when my garden flowers came on, we picked those as well.

For six months we had a fresh bouquet of flowers adorning our dining table every day. We never missed even one. In this dry area of Montana, that is quite a feat and one we hope to accomplish again very soon!

Pink Puff

I sometimes overlook Geraniums when cutting flowers for bouquets...Until this year while working on this "Simple Floral Arrangements" segment.

Using a rose bowl to accommodate the short stems of these blooms worked beautifully as the vase.

As I arranged the cuttings, a few pink petals dropped to the table here and there which I thought was quite lovely. Then I placed a few of the smaller stems among the scattered petals and....DONE!

Individual Geranium petals are very charming with their variegated tones. Don't forget to look at them up close!
