Your Thanksgiving decorating just became stress free and simple. Putting this apple basket together a few days early frees your time for cooking on that hectic Thursday. All the elements are dried naturally in your garden, except for the apples which will keep just fine in the fridge for a long time. This is a Holiday centerpiece idea you can enjoy before, during and after the big day. It doesn't get much better than that!

This was the first year that our oldest daughter, Baylee, was unable to make it home for Thanksgiving. We not only missed being graced by her presence, but the dining table was likely to suffer as well.
If you have spent much time on our website, you already know that Baylee is normally in charge of all Holiday centerpiece ideas and place settings. It is a perfect fit for me as I sometimes find myself too busy cooking to dress the table the way I would like. And after all, Baylee is much more creative and artistic than I am, so its a win-win!!!
It looked like we would just have a plain table this year. At the last minute, literally an hour before we were scheduled to eat, something stirred inside of me and prompted a Holiday centerpiec idea. The basket was holding eggs, so out they went to be replaced by some apples our brother-in-law had given us from his own tree.
Then our oldest son, Adam, and I headed outside with my trusty clippers for a tour of our gardens. We took cuttings of whatever looked interesting in texture and color. Even in winter, you can find the most amazing things! Upon returning to the house, I tucked the clippings into the apples and VOILA!!! The pictures were immediately sent via email to Baylee...I was quite proud of what she had inadvertently taught me to do!

We never have anything specifically set aside for her centerpieces. Baylee comes up with her Holiday decorating ideas by simply wandering around the house, inside and out, to find objects for her creations. Maybe she somehow telekinetically sent me that Holiday centerpiece idea at the last minute....since she is always responsible for making our table beautiful....she may have not wanted to miss this year after all.
