Chocolate Buttercream FrostingThis Chocolate Buttercream Frosting is one of my all-time favorites and is especially rich on these So Easy Chocolate Brownies. Try it also on this Chocolate Wacky Cake Recipe. Cake icing recipes come a dime a dozen, but you'll find this one is worth including in your recipe file. Chocolate Buttercream Icing Ingredients:
Cream shortening and butter with electric mixer (again, I use my Kitchen Aid stand mixer...there is none better!). Add cocoa and vanilla and mix well. Add about 3 Tablespoons of the milk and mix well. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Make sure to scrape sides of bowl often. If the icing seems dry, add the last Tablespoon of milk. You want the mixture to be the consistency suitable for spreading on the cake or brownie. Once you like the consistency, whip until light and fluffy on a medium to high speed. I specifically use speed #8 on my Kitchen Aid stand mixer for about 2 minutes. Keep this Chocolate Buttercream Frosting covered until use. For a Darker Chocolate Icing:Add 1/4 Cup more cocoa powder and 1 more Tablespoon of milk to recipe
