Available Collie Puppies!

available collie puppies

Our son, Adam, is raising this batch of soon to be available Collie puppies, which were born on February 23, 2009. They should be ready for adoption no earlier than April 6, 2009.

We are lucky enough to live close by to take part in the excitement! There are three males and one female in this litter, which is the first
one for Adam's young female Border Collie.

Mother is a Smooth Coat Border Collie

Tice is what is known as a smooth coat Border Collie because of her sleek hair.

Even though she is not a registered Border Collie, her breeders told us that she is pure, none-the-less.

Tice is an active dog, her deep chest showing lung power and endurance. Her sloping shoulders and well bent hocks indicate her speed...she IS a fast runner! Border Collie's are highly intelligent and their many facial expressions demonstrate how well they really understand us.

Having so many desirable qualities, available collie puppies can be hard to find.

Father is a Rough Coat Border Collie

First, let me point out that we are pretty sure this batch of puppies was sired by two males. Yes, A female dog can have as many different fathers for her puppies as bred with her. If more than one male bred her, that's how many fathers the puppies can have. I know, that seems strange, but it's true!

Of course, one puppy cannot have two different fathers. Each pup gets half of it's DNA from the mother and the other half from one of the fathers...get it?

So, the two fathers are both rough coat Border Collies because of their longer, very thick and corse hair.

These available collie puppies appear to be of the smooth coat variety at this point. That can change though, so time will tell.

Berno is a Red Border Collie and Spud is a Black Border Collie. You can see evidence of two different fathers in this batch of pups by their colors. I say 'evidence' because we are not completely sure both males fathered pups here. Since an expensive DNA test is the only way to know for certain, we are settling for an educated guess and saving the money!

Father, Spud, Is a Black Border Collie

Spud, the black border collie sire, has a rough coat just like Berno. A happy ranch dog, Spud gets ample attention, exercise and plenty of jobs to do. Border collies love to work and ours are invaluable when it comes to handling cattle.

Border collies are not the ideal pet unless you plan to spend a lot of time with them. If you don't find things for them to do, they will look for 'work' themselves....and those 'jobs' they do probably won't make you very happy!

This particular litter of available collie puppies comes from parentage with excellent working genetics...they love to work!

Plenty of Border Collie Photos

We have plenty of Border Collie photos to choose from, so it was hard to pare it down here!

Are You Up to Training a Border Collie Puppy?

available collie puppies

The Collie dog makes an excellent sporting dog, and can be taught to do the work of the Pointer and the Setter, as well as that of the Water Spaniel and the Retriever. He can be trained to perform the duties of many other breeds.

He is clever at hunting because of his excellent sense of smell and he loves to kill vermin. Border Collies are a most faithful watch-guard, and loving companion.

So if you are interested in training a Border Collie puppy, make sure this breed is right for you and your lifestyle. We couldn't do our work without them, but at the same time, they are beloved members of our family who we lavish as much attention on as possible! Be certain you can do the same.

Tiny Tootsies

Isn't that adorable??? These available collie puppies have tiny tootsies now, but they will grow into a medium sized, extremely athletic and active adult dog very soon.

It's hard to believe that these little guys (and gal) will be ready for a new home in such a short time. Right now they need their mother. And we need to spend time with them too... I'm not sure if we will be able to let them go!

If I get too attached to them, they won't be available collie puppies at all!

Our youngest son, Dustin, will be claiming Walter for his own...unless he changes his mind and chooses Effrom. Its a very hard decision to make. They are both so sweet and we love them!

Another ranch family will be adopting one of the remaining males. They have two young boys and I think every puppy should have a little boy to play with, so whichever of these guys goes with them will be in heaven!

That leaves only one of the males left to find a home. We are searching and hoping to find the perfect family for him.

Little Girl is going to a ranch family here in our home town, so she will be very happy running the range and chasing cattle.
